Newick Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic was established in Newick, East Sussex in 1997.

Physiotherapy plays an important role in aiding healing, pain relief and rehabilitation. Physiotherapy can also help ligaments, nerves and joints recover from injury.

The Physiotherapists at Newick Physiotherapy are all members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, registered with the Health Care Professions Council and DBS checked.

The clinic is open Monday to Friday all day and Saturday mornings.

Your Treatment 

At your first visit we will take a detailed history of your condition, together with any relevant past medical history and carry out a physical assessment. We will then discuss our findings with you and together agree an effective treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities and general health, which will commence immediately.

Treatment may include:

• Mobilisation and/ or manipulation
• Acupuncture
• Electrotherapy e.g. ultrasound, interferential, TENS’s
• Massage
• Exercises
• Education and advice
• Ergonomic advice
• Rehabilitation
• Manual Handling and postural advice

Physiotherapy is a two-way process and you should feel free to ask whatever questions you may have at any stage during your treatment.
By helping you understand your condition, we can guide you to help yourself back to health.  

Profiles

Jane qualified from The Royal London Hospital, London in 1971 and began her career in the NHS in London, then moving to Essex and finally Sussex. In 1977 she undertook postgraduate clinical supervision and became a Member of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Through the years she has worked for BAA at Gatwick Airport, Sports Injury Clinic at Sussex University and assisted at various private practices in East and West Sussex.

Jane lectured both nationally and internationally on musculoskeletal manipulative techniques and manual handling, and has also run courses for physiotherapists and other professionals on manual handling.

Jane started her own private practice in Chailey in 1985, moving the practice to Newick in 1997. She has a special interest in Musculoskeletal back and neck pain and has strong relationships with local GPs and Consultants.

Philippa qualified from St Georges Medical School University, London in 2008. She then worked in the NHS across many areas, specialising in Musculoskeletal Outpatients in 2010 where she treated a wide range of conditions, gaining a wealth of experience and manual skills. Philippa has also worked for a rugby team for 5 seasons, furthering her experience with acute sporting injuries and rehabilitation.

Since qualifying Philippa has completed a postgraduate qualification in acupuncture and courses specialising in ante and postnatal pelvic girdle pain. In addition to the clinic Philippa continues to work as an external consultant for the NHS at the Musculoskeletal Service at the Vale in Haywards Heath.
